The “Casa Estudiantil” is an Educational Center from which, with an average duration of 6 years, the girls emerge with a high school diploma which redeems them socially, paves the way for a qualified professional activity allowing them to emerge from the original situation of economic and social underdevelopment.
The House can accommodate up to 70 girls every year who, due to the distance from school centres, the poverty of the families and the marginalization in which women are kept in rural communities, have not been able to continue their studies after primary school or have had to abandon them.
The Casa Estudiantil provides food, accommodation and support for the young people’s studies, provides complementary and integrative teaching for a better professional qualification, carries out cultural, sporting and recreational activities.
Well inserted in the Colomi community, which even on an official level recognizes its merit and seriousness, Casa Estudiantil does not count on certain incomes and secure contributions.
He lives thanks to the support of friends, voluntary groups, parishes, institutions, schools and workers’ associations.
It was founded in 2001 by desire of Monsignor Tito Solari, Archbishop of Cochabamba, and on the initiative of Anna Maria Bertoldo from Vicenza.
It is located in Colomi, at 3,333 meters above sea level, on the Andean puna (in the highest and most desert area of these majestic mountains).”
